Title: The Polar Express
Release Date: November 10 2004
Running Time: 100 Minutes
Genre: 3D Childrens Movie
Starring: Daryl Sabara, Tom Hanks, Nona Gaye, Eddie Deezen, Jimmy Bennett

In this adaptation of the classic children story, The Polar Express 3D is the tale of a boy name Steven (Daryl Sabara) who has severe doubts about the existence of Santa Claus. He even has a catalog of magazine articles and pictures that debunk Santa as a hoax. As Christmas Eve of 1957 arrives, Steven hopes to see evidence of Santa to restore his faith. As midnight rolls around Steven discovers outside his house not Santa, but the Polar Express, a magic train whose destination is the North Pole. The odd, time conscious train conductor (Tom Hanks) invites Steven aboard. After a bit of hesitation, he boards the Express.

Aboard the train Steven meets many other children the Polar Express has picked up along the way, most notably the headstrong Isabelle (Nona Gaye), the braniac Lenny (Eddie Deezen), and the quiet Billy (Jimmy Bennett). Also on the train are two goofy mechanics (Michael Jeter), and a mysterious Hobo (Tom Hanks) who secretly rides the train for free and may or may not be an angel, albeit a crude one.

On the ride to the North Pole Steven, his new friends, and the train’s crew encounter several obstacles such as misplaced tickets, icy tracks, and even Caribou. All along the way Steven wonders whether he truly believes in the Polar Express, or if it’s all just a dream. Will he really get to meet Santa, or will this become another addition to his catalog of hoaxes?

The Polar Express is a visually stunning film that excellently takes a short children story and turns it into an epic adventure. The film’s beautiful 3D makes you really feel like you are on a magic train zooming across the artic, or a golden ticket blowing in the wind. This is an exciting family film that goes above and beyond the simple title of a Christmas movie. It captures the feel of classic magical adventure movies that are rarely seen these days. Watching this film will make you believe in childhood hopes and dreams again, and the magic of Christmas. A wonderful film that the entire family can feel good about, The Polar Express is a winter wonderland blast!
